Between 2000-2001, Dr. Karamercan, who worked as a General Surgery Specialist (Deputy Chief Physician) at Muhittin Ülker Emergency Aid and Traumatology Hospital, was appointed as Assistant Professor (Founding Faculty Member) to Gazi University Faculty of Medicine Department of First Aid and Emergency in 2001. Working as a general surgery specialist in the emergency department, Dr. Karamercan has continued his studies at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine General Surgery Department since 2004. He received the title of Associate Professor of General Surgery in 2007 and still continues to work as a Professor in the same department. He worked as the Deputy Chief Physician of Gazi University Faculty of Medicine Hospital between 2011-2012. Karamercan also served as the coordinator of operating rooms and intensive care units.

Dr. Karamercan worked in Memorial Sloan-Cattering Cancer Center – Colorectal Surgery (New York – USA) in 2005 and in AGC Course-Davos Gastrointestinal Surgery (Davos-Switzerland) in 2006. He has been working actively in the General Surgery Endoscopy and Proctology unit since 2004. Karamercan Endoscopy has a certificate of authorization. In 2011, it was authorized as ‘console surgeon’ by Da Vinci Robotic Systems (IRCAD – EITS – Strasbourg, France).
