Our Department was established in 1979 by Dr.Mehmet Yardımcı and Dr. İbrahim Bozkırlı, and started to serve at the Emergency and Traffic Hospital named after Dr. Muhittin Ülker.

The department started its activities as the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery within the Faculty of Medicine of Gazi University.

Our department started its academic activities in 1983 with 1 faculty member’s room, 6 patient beds and 1 polyclinic within the Pediatrics clinic in the Emergency Aid and Traffic Hospital.
