Department of Emergency Medicine was established on 26 June 2001. 35 specialists have been trained in assistant training since 2002. Within the Department, there are 5 faculty members, 30 research assistants and approximately 90 administrative staff members. Our Department has the most effective internship area for senior students of the Faculty of Medicine, 40 intern doctors do internships in 6-week terms. Academic staff of our departmentprovides theoretical and practical training on basic first aid to students of the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Education and Vocational School of Health Services.

Services

Patients who apply to our department personally initially are taken to our examination room and the paramedic in charge performs triage- (taking diseases into examination rooms according to their order of urgency). After the registration procedures are completed, first intervention, diagnosis and treatment procedures are carried out in our examination rooms with the evaluations of our assistants in line with the opinions and suggestions of our specialist doctors. Patients who need to be hospitalized are consulted with the consultant doctors of the departments related to their diseases.

In our Department of Emergency Services, first aid, resuscitation (resuscitation) and emergency diseases (heart attack, heart rhythm disorders, high fever, abdominal pains, stomach bleeding, stroke (paralysis), cuts, fractures, traffic accidents, falls, sudden cardiac arrest, assaults, poisonings, suicide attempts, etc.) can be treated.
