University, and Dr.Ali Fouad Ashq, who teaches “Forensic Medicine” and is in charge of theemergency department, assumed the duties of the first head of the department of our facultysince 1994. Our department has been giving lectures on “Forensic Medicine” to the Faculty of Law and Dentistry at Gazi University since May 1997. Our university also taught “HealthLaw” lectures in master’s programs at the Institute of Social Sciences, and “ForensicMedicine” lectures at Başkent University Faculty of Law between 1997-2001 and at Gülhane Military Medical College between 2002-2008. Our training studies on “forensic medicine” and “medical law” continue periodically with different institutions, especially the healthdirectorate of the province. Since the 1997-1998 academic year, ‘Specialist Training in Medicine’ has been offered in our department and our Senior Research Assistant was awardedthe title of ‘Forensic Specialist’ in June 2001.
